How we met

We met in late 2005.

I (Charlie) and my roommates (Aubrey and Binni) had moved into the neighborhood a couple of weeks earlier. Our apartment was at the bottom of the hill at the end of a cul-de-sac. With three of us sharing the apartment and only two parking spaces our third vehicle parked in the grass on the side of the hill. Unknown to me at the time was that Jenny and her sister shared the apartment directly up the hill and this parking situation seems to have been an issue with the girls as they sometimes thought our vehicles blocked them into their spots with no exit.

 Cue the meeting….

It’s late afternoon as I walk to my truck to leave for my 5:30 class. I hear a voice “hey you”.  I turn up the hill to see the most beautiful creature walking towards me. It’s quite obvious she’s mad. Very mad. “Hi I’m Jennifer” she snaps. “Hi” I replied still taken aback by this very attractive but very angry woman who has materialized as if from thin air. “And you are…. ???” she asks with malice in her voice.  “I’m ….I”m Charlie” I finally answer as I try to figure out where she came from and why exactly she’s so very angry with me.  {At this point she ranted about something for a while but I wasn’t really listening – I was too busy watching her and thinking how attractive she was}. Finally it clicked that she was mad about parking and I mumbled something about “we’ll try to be better” and then watched her storm back up the hill.

Needless to say I didn’t pay attention in class that night. I couldn’t get her off my mind.

To ease the threat level in the neighborhood from “shoot on sight” we eventually went over and apologized and soon started hanging out in groups as friends.

The next September we started dating and 2 years, 9 months, 10 days later I asked her to be my wife.

She still thinks I can’t park straight. I still think she’s really hot when she’s mad.

The Proposal : 7/8/09
How he made me the happiest woman in the world....

On that Wednesday, I (Jenn) was feeling very sick. I went into work to do what I could but ended up feeling so ill that I went home around 10:00 AM. I called Charlie to let him know I wasn't feeling well and would be at my apartment the rest of the day. He stopped by to check on me and gave me some medicine. Before he left he mentioned that he had to go to work but would come check on me about the time I usually got off work (4:30 PM).

I ended up sleeping up until about the time he said he would check on me...He came in sat next to me. He was concerned about how I was feeling but began telling me how the day was significant. He told me that today (07/08/09) was exactly 3 years to the day that I first looked him in the eyes. I began trusting him. At this point he knew I was for him because he could see his future in my eyes.

At this point he was moving to get down on his knee and I was repeatedly saying, "What are you doing?"  It was then he asked me to marry him. I said "YES!" Of course, I was still very groggy from the medicine and asked him if I had really told him "yes." He laughed and told me that we were now engaged. I will never forget this incredible moment, and I cannot wait to be his forever.
